Howdy from NWT!
« on: September 03, 2007, 08:42:18 PM »
Hi Fellas,

Just arrived in camp at MacKay Lake Lodge, NWT Canada this afternoon. Works out they have full time internet here on satelitte. We're about 150 miles NE of Great Slave Lake, right along the N. American tree line. Pretty excited to be here.

Here's a link to the outfitter we're hunting with:

http://www.truenorthsafaris.com/mainpage.html

I'm here with a group of 6 bowhunters from WA State, all fired up for Caribou!

Will send an update and some caribou images as we are successful.

Dang....I am one jealous man.  I wanted to win that trip with the bowhunter defense fun thing with the WSB...even bid on it one year, but somebody else wanted to go more than I did I guess.  REALLY looking forward to hearing about your trip.  I'm still thinking seriously about it.  I really want to hunt them hard antlered though, not in the velvet.  I'm not sure if they offer that or not.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! :archer:  shoot straight

I beat it into work hoping that he sent you some pics, or that he had posted them.  DANG!!!!  I'm on this trip with him, he just doesn't know it.  That is some bull that got anchored, and good for the Trad guy.

No that's not pacyew. Maybe he'll get enough time to put some words with those pics.

I think I need to do a bou hunt also. Chasing with stick and string looks like some big time fun to me. Thanks for the post and pics Pacyew. Enjoy and good luck.

Hi All,

The fellow in the first picture is my hunting buddy Vince Scully from Hastings Minnesota. He harvested this nice bull with his recurve the on the second day, with a 15 yard heart shot. It went 50 yards. I was just a short distance away and I sure I was just as excited as he was as I watched it all unfold.

The second image of a huge bull, taken by Mrs. Klasson, from Calgary Alberta. This is a photo of Grandmother, Grandfather and Grandson all in camp (and in the field!) together.

The third is a typical group of caribou crossing a small inlet. Mrs. Klasson's bull is at the back, the one with the big headgear.

Finally, this is of a blond tundra grizzly (this one not my photo) taken near camp this Spring.

Was able to get a nice bull myself a couple days ago. Will have more images on return Monday.

Good Hunting!
