Week end at Westport
« on: July 15, 2014, 02:23:01 PM »
Saturday the fishing was great  We went 5 for 6. 3 kings and 2 silvers. Quick Draw caught her largest salmon ever at 22 plus pounds and our 8 year old grandson caught his first salmon a 7 pound silver, and his first ever king at 20 plus pounds. Quick Draw and the grandson both limited, and I came up short with just 1 king around 12 pounds. The pics will be up as soon as I learn how to post them from my I Pad  :dunno:

Sunday everthing went down hill  :bash: After we dropped off the crab pot at a location only know to a few   we headed out to the fishing ground  :IBCOOL: Everthing was going great, until I had to change gas tanks. After changing to the new tank, and running for about 1 1/2 miles, the motor started acting like it was running out of gas  :yike:  Yes the tank was full, and new gas all around. So much for fish Sunday. The trip back in only took an hour and a half to make it back to the dock. A couple of times I was thinking about call into the Coast Guard for an excort just incase the motor died. But we made it in without calling.

Monday, after working a little on the motor and fuel lines Quick Draw and I launched the boat to gine it a test run   She fired up at the launch just fine, but just before we were to cast off the motor died, and would not start back up. So much for a test drive  :bash: back on the trailer, and back to the camp site. We packed up the camp, and headed for home. Even with the boat motor problems the week end camping, fishing visiting with freinds was a great time. Right up and including blowing a trailer tire about 8 miles from the Elma Rest Area  :yike: Man did that thing make a mess  :yike:  and know my wife knows why I always carry a spare

We made it home without any more excitement, infact we got great gas mileage on the pick-up. Towing a 1969 BellBoy (heavier than all get out) without the top, loaded with the camping gear we made it to about 8 miles from the house before we had to switch tanks.

Like I said all in all this was a great trip.

Is this on your newly redone boat? Fuel pump issue? Congrats on getting some fish anyway, my dad and brother had a tough go all around. They boated a couple silvers and lost a couple kings for the weekend. Hope your boat is up and running for the rest of the season!
Fish hard, hunt harder!

Yep. Well I rebuilt the boat 2 winters ago, and the motor I have had since 1993. I'm trying to talk Lady Nutcracker into a new motor   :bdid:  bbut evertime I bring it up she gets this real strange look on her face  :yike: and I get scared. I should have it up and running by this week end. Plus I have to get new trailer tires.

Hey on another up note I forgot to mention, Gasman showed me some cool things on my GPS for out there on the coast  Man I'm hooked on that thing. The GPS, and my compus make a great pair  :IBCOOL:
