Bear at 50 yards last evening in stanwood, 300 st exit
« on: June 26, 2014, 08:53:08 PM »
I was tearing apart my goat fence last night, dogs start going ape, I keep working away. The boy is playing by me and I hear some blackberries breaking along the hillside. I walk a bit closer thinking it might be a bear and sure enough, a decent bear pops out, pauses and looks at me. I holler at the boy to come look and he loved it. The bear sauntered off and made his way thru the brush. Pretty cool to see. I've heard of another sow and cub in the area, as well as another smaller bear about a mile away.

I was in your neighborhood the other day looking at a new house. It backed up to a forested area full of black berries and all I could think about was bears in the back yard. I had visions of sitting on the patio with a cup coffee at sunrise with my rifle at my side. It appears as though my thoughts weren't to far off. Probably can't hunt in the neighborhood but it was a fun thought.

I tried to buy a house near Conway last year on 5 acres. I was a sweet place that backed up to state land, blackberries galore, a small pond. Some A-Hole came in with an offer above asking and we were left crying in our cheerioes. I'm still bummed about it.

got black bears, bob cats, occasional lion and the ubiquitous coyotes here in Conway. Coyote # 31 bit the hay 2 days ago.

Saw another bear in stanwood about 3 days ago, just off 36th ave. Looked like a smaller sow. They seem to be everywhere this year.

Ps...just got internet here in Conway. ;)

There is a collared sow that had three little ones there last year.  I hunt a friends property off of 300th for deer and there are a ton of bears in there. Good Luck

That's near my offramp. Saw a decent 4x4 couple of yrs back on 300 by Pioneer hwy...just laying inside the barbed wire w/the cows. Think he was biding his time as bow season was on & I'll bet there was an hombre in the stand of timber across the hwy. Maybe we could rename Pioneer Hwy SR9 eh?

Took a ride in the hills there at the west end of 300th last weekend, lots and lots of bear poop in there. Not too surprising since they don't allow hunting on the tree farm.

Who can forget the bear living in the highway median last year. I do recall seeing the bear cage setup for at least a week or so before it was removed.
