bear hyde tips?

Still on that learning curve,now that the season is hear,and I've got bear on the cam daily almost I'm starting to wonder about the formalities,if you will.like the Hyde and special skin techniques ?How do you prepare the Hyde for the possibility of making a rug (this rug cant go in my house,but ?)what are the procedures ,any advice is much appreciated :rolleyes:

After skinned , fold in half ( hair not touching flesh side) and then roll up. Put in frezzer if you can't take it in that day. Don't flesh it, that's taxi job

Has anybody done there rug there selves or is the taxi guys that special,heck the natives allways did it didn't they,i cant imagine it being that hard to cost 2 grand or more and I think I could gain a little pride in the task (OR NOT ?? ) :chuckle:I'm not paying some guy 2 grand for anything that I can do myself,those prices are ridiculous.For what ,adding chemicals and watching it work !or am I loosing my mind in even trying this ?

We we tan most of our hides, it is a lot of work

I watched the video suggested and now wondering where to get the stuff,salt I can figure out ,soda I got but this other two things I don't know ,like something called fan or fawn ??  ( again with the learning thing ,any help is muchly appreciated guys thanx !!
