2014-2015 ND trapping journal
« on: November 10, 2014, 04:34:42 PM »
Heading out tomorrow to get part of my line setup. Found a really good slough loaded with beaver and rats. Also will be setting dozen buckets with 220's for coon. I'll have a dozen MB 550's for canines. Wish me luck.
Here are the traps I have ready to set for tomorrow.

Thanks woodchuck! Let's hope so teacherman. I was able to get a few of my rat traps out today. Spent a lot of time looking for bubbles in ice, finding the entrance to their huts. Got some of those set, funny thing was, as I was dropping some duke #1's in two of the huts, had my conibears snap on me at the hut entrance. Nailed two rats as I was setting! Weather was crappy. Storm moving in, but hopefully some animals will be moving into my coon sets.

Had a nice surprise on the 1st check. Coon sets were empty. Through out 6 more muskrat sets and couple blind mink sets.  Easier to see all the activity with the fresh snow, but man was it a cold one out today

Role those critters in that fresh snow to dry them quickly! Don't want frozen guard hairs.

Thanks teacherman! That works quite well! Nailed 3 more rats on the line today. Had two misses in the #1 longs, even with a drowning rig. Win some lose some.

3 on the stretchers, 1 about to come off. This group was pretty small, but great fur!

Very cool. My gpa used to trap in South Dakota in the 40's to help bring in extra income. Best of luck this year.

Spent the day getting my rat traps out. Found an area with about a thousand huts, not even going to be able to put a dent in that population trapping only 10 days a month. Anywho, I'll get my canine sets out tomorrow and post an update.

Connected on 7 rats today, had several pull outs, through out an additional dozen rat traps. My wife decided to come with, she had a blast! Carry on down the line.

Caught 6 today, should've been 10. 1 pull out, two with the foot left and one mink got to my rat, hopefully tomorrow I'll have him caught.
