That looks really cool. Kind of makes me want to try out hunting bear and cat.
Good luck to all you predator hunters.

I think my spring bear this year was a solid 18+, I'll get a measurement when I get the skull back from the taxi.

I shot this bear Septmber 5th in Northport, Washington unit #105 with my Remington 700 30-06. I used Hornady Superformance GMX .150 grain bullets and shot this Sow through the heart and both lungs at about 70 yards away. The bears live weight was estimated to be 320bs by the butcher, and it was a 5 ft 10 inch bear.
I went up on a Thursday evening with my uncle Jim. We got camp set up that evening and hunted Friday all day. We saw one bear on the Sheep Creek side, but couldn't get an oppurtunity on that on. The next day we woke up to a wet, rainy day. I was in high spirits from the bear we spotd the daybefore. I left camp, and walked the old logging road to a draw I know that always has bear in it. I got there and sat for about 4 hours. I only sat for 4 because the draw is about 10 miles from camp. Not seeing any bear on that draw aroynd 4 pm I decided to head back to camp and hunt along the Columbia River flat back to camp. I got a few hundred yards into the flats and herd a snap to my left. I looked over and saw a nice BIG black bear running from left to my right broadside. I reacted quickly got the scope on the front shoulder and squeezed off a lethal shot at 70 yards. Bear went about 50 yards, rolled around and passed away quickly. Only my 2nd bear, but a really big sow with a BIG SKULL! I'm still stoked about it, looking forward to making a bear rug, and European skull mount.

Ok this was getting really long and confusing quick. With the extra pictures people will think those are entries. Let's keep this fun and on track.

From the rules.
8. Judge Discretion: Judges may challenge any entry. Judges may require the top entries to get an official score.

Lets see some more bears!

Here is my entry for the head competition. And my story with it!

I managed to get my bear for 2015 with my Elite Answer bow. By far the most intense and thrilling hunt I have ever had!! I drew back on this boar at 18 yards (I had also left my backup pistol in my truck and was very nervous at this point) and hit a perfect double lung. I have switched to shooting the NAP killzone maxx broadheads with a 2 3/8 cutting diameter. Clean pass through and he sprinted all of 40 yards before getting a mouth full of dirt (literally ;) ). I am going to turn him into an open mouth bear rug down at cedar river taxidermy. Rick was thrilled to see it and I had a great time meeting him. The bear measured out for a 20 inch skull on the dot as of right now (after being cleaned down to bone). He was 78 inches nose to tail and 53 inches wide. Just the cape and head alone was 109.6 lbs. According to the measurements he could have weighed up to 486 lbs.  Can't wait to see that rug come back!!

Wow, great bears, keep them coming. You don't have to have the biggest bear/cat to enter. This contest was designed to get all the top critters in one thread.

An update with my previous post above, I had my dry skull officially measured by Russ Spaulding in Auburn and it measured out to 19 15/16 for Pope and Young.  :IBCOOL:

So I had my bear "officially" scored today by Larry Carey in Spokane, Wa. and the final score is 17 7/16. Word of advice, don't measure with a non flexible tape, :chuckle: I was wayyyyy off.! I am still very thrilled with this big sow I shot. Here is a picture of the score sheet to confirm it.
