East side of Wynoochee reservoir when the snow starts to fall, all the elk come down to the north end of the lake.

Cannot hunt kapowsin even with the incentive tag, you can hunt mashel, but not anything that lies in the kapowsin boundaries. I'd say white river you'll have to put time into which is good if your ok hiking deep, maybe check out south rainier etc. Down there.

I ran into a couple people a few years ago who were drawn for Mashel antlerless muzzleloader permits that fell outside of the general elk seasons when Hancock closes for their elk permits.  Hancock allowed them to hunt and harvest because it wasn't during the general elk seasons.  I would say it would be worth asking Hancock to make sure since there are still permits available.

If they by chance said yes it is a no brainer where to go.

There are not any elk there, it is too thick, too steep, and no place to camp...

It boils down to what you as a hunter likes in a given area, and what kind of hunt your looking for. I have hunted elk in most of the units in sw Washington, and seen respectable bulls in all of them. I have killed a 300 inch bull in a unit that historically is not somewhere one would look for quality bulls. I would venture to say that an area that you are familiar with is more important than an area with a high number of large bulls, not to say that it wouldn't be ideal but fore sure not a must.

The largest bulls that i have ever seen while actually out hunting in this state are in a fairly no named unit in the south west, but it pays to know your backyard.

When i look for a place to hunt good bulls, i usually look for places with low elk numbers low elk numbers = low people numbers, low people numbers= better age class of bulls.

Hancock allows the late muzzy hunt for cows to happen in the main gate... I can bet money that they will say no to even a incentive tag, only bulls that get hunted are by there drawings in there which sucks for this sort of case, can't hurt to ask but iv herd thru the grape vine from plenty that they will say no
Boom boom boom...

As said before....  Lewis River, South Rainier for a Cascade Roosie or Quinalt or Clearwater for a real Roosie.

Oh now you started it!
"Cascade Rosie"

Wouldn't that be a "Columbia Coastal Cascade" or is that a "Bench leg Rosie"

The Bulls in that area don't live to be 4.5 years old. Raghorns and brush racks

Westside tag offers a lot of options, depends on what your looking for and what kind of hunting you like. I prefer the  513 and 516 areas and not only because im permitted for those areas but at least you can get away from all the brush and people. The bulls we take out of those units average 320+ but we have taking a few 350+bulls out of there also.If you have any questions dont hesitate to look us up information is free.lol
Good luck on all your hunting adventures

I've hunted S Rainier a few times and it's tough. Dude the Mosquitoes up in there are enough to quickly drive you out of there in a quick hurry! I'm talking about a dark cloud of bugs all over you! Been there, done that, no thank you! This was in mid -late September for early archery. Even a few scouting trips in Jul/Aug.. Bugs!!!
