I've seen many more 140" bucks killed than 180" bucks in that unit.

Shoot what makes you happy.

So reading more and talking with other hunters that have been there, it looks like I might want to hold out for a 150" plus bucks??? :o. I've always been more of a meat hunter but there's always a first for everyone...

There are plenty of easier "meat" hunts to draw than 45, even over the counter. If all you were interested in is meat, why apply there? :dunno:

Maybe because he wants the "chance" to hunt big deer? Maybe because a 150" buck is a good buck to him? Maybe because he just wanted a chance to hunt a great unit with limited hunters? Who really cares, he got lucky, drew the tag, enjoy your hunt...

Have another drink phool...

Yep hold out for at least that until the last day of your hunt! How long are you going to be there? I think you will have multiple stalk opportunities on 150"+ bucks and maybe a giant or two throughout the course of your hunt.

257 has it right!  I have never killed a 150 class mule deer, so that is a big deer for me.

Phool, as far as being a meat hunter.... I mean that if I see a legal buck, I take him.  I don't hold out for the phantom largest buck on the mountain.  But when you put in for a tag that has a larger than average number of large bucks, and you pull it, you don't necessarily take the first buck you see.

Posting a pick of jackelope's mule deer 150 inches..... Works for me 😄

I hear ya. A 150" muley with archery gear is a trophy anyway, in open country it's even nicer.

Here is a scouting update.  Checked a few areas, and the latest area had the best results.  Of course they were in a private field, but they are there! Hope to see some of these in a month!
