Getting packages in the mail can get addicting. Seems like there's  always  deals online :chuckle:
Oh man tell me about it!  Not only have I been buying some stuff, but my good buddy Jeremie is the opposite of a gear junkie, but needs to upgrade a bunch of stuff.  He gave me his credit card info, a basic list of stuff he needs like shelter, backpack, sleep pad, sleeping bag, etc. and said go nuts :chuckle:  Hence the reason I was running a new duplex hunter frame with kyrptek DT1 :IBCOOL:  Everything ships to my house so I can inspect (play with) it :chuckle:
Sounds like a pretty cool shopping trip! Those boots look like they'll handle all you can dish out til the flakes fly...and could keep going w/gaiters. Wore through a number of high top boots. Then found a niner that I love. Lighter, plenty of support under up to 80#s. Loving the spirit of this thread.
wore them tonight for some arrow flinging and was really surprised at how much ankle support they gave me when all laced up.  Pretty comfy boot right out of the gate.  Few pressure points but I'm sure they will stretch out and not be an issue :IBCOOL:

Have a great adventure! The anticipation can be almost as good as the hunt. Know that your brother will be there every step.

Loving every piece of this thread minus the tree on the house and broken leg on your lab.  New gear is great!  You can kill with old gear but doing it with new gear is better!  I have the new Kifaru duplex frame and love it.  Have the previous gen too... Some say I have a Kifaru problem.  I just like to think I have a pack frame for my buddy to use!  Best of luck.  Great bull you found scouting.

Tagging along. Good luck Karl. That last bull pic looks like he is in the clouds with the sun glare. I doubt that was a coincidence.

It'll be hard enough to keep Karl focused on elk and not getting side tracked and distracted if he sees a buck.  :chuckle:

I understand completely.  All my best elk hunts are the ones where I come home with a big buck!
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Stop it with that nonsense!  It has taken me years to convince my wife that you cannot kill anything with old gear and you wanna mess that up with your blatantly wreckless and out right dangerous comment :dunno:  How dare you >:( >:(

Haha!  You guys know me too well!  But I have promised myself that I will not detour from elk hunting unless he is a 150" or better.........or 140" with good eye guards..........or a nice 3pt............or legal :chuckle:

Well I guess the saying holds true!  Bad stuff happens in three's :bash:  In an effort to be a good husband (and to do my duties so I can get back to scouting) I made a run up the hill to cut a load of wood.  Not only did I have to resort to slumming a load of lodgepole, but I snagged a stump backing out a skid road and jacked up my bumper :bash:  Tree, dog, truck!  All in a week.  Got the bad three out of the way though so should be smooth sailing through hunting season :chuckle:

Bucking a saw and swinging a maul is the best workout there is!  Am I the only one who just can't leave that last piece, know matter how small it is :chuckle:

If I slum lodge pole, I try to hide the rounds under tamarack or fir...and I don't post it on the internet  :chuckle:
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
