Chantrelle report?
« on: September 23, 2016, 06:49:45 PM »
I've spent a ton of time looking for chantrelle near monroe/sultan with no luck. I know plenty of places near olympia for chanterelle but it's a bit of a haul from Redmond but im thinking ill hit the Capitol forest just to get out and maybe stick a doe.

Anyone picking in Olympia yet? How bout along highway 2?

Anyone want to trade spots? I'm willing to trade a bolete spot and maybe a morel spot for rock solid highway 2/ 90 corridor chanterelle spot.

Good luck out there!

No lie, I picked a pan full August 1st above enumclaw but since then I haven't seen a much new growth. Sept 1 was the earliest I have picked them prior to this year.

So far my family and I have picked about 15-20 lbs. We found them at about 400' in 18"-24" fir tree forest.

Had a decent pick just off 90 on Wednesday. This is two hours worth. I mostly go on weekdays. The area gets some pressure but it always produces. Let me know if you are interested in going out some time.

Went out today and ended up with about 2.5 lbs. small patches and they don't seem to have really come up yet. Should be better in the coming weeks.

Went out on Thursday to my typical location north of Leavenworth and found nothing.  Needed more rain. The rain started on Friday and through the weekend so I'll be going again this weekend and expect success.

The chants have been really slow for me this year.  Been finding only 2 to 5 at a time with a few patches of 10 or more.  I have picked a couple Walmart sacks full now is all.  Been a great year for angle wings.  Found a few shaggy manes.  Haven't found any lobsters.  And between my buddy and I we have found 4 cauliflowers.

I could have picked as many as I wanted during muzzy elk. I was south of Aberdeen.  I also found 2 cauliflower mushrooms.

Chantrelle started popping up in olympia area last week. So far its not a big year for my usual spots. The lovsters have pretty much rotted already and I didnt see a whole of them either.

Because of my detached retina, I've only started going out to the hills 2 weeks ago. We've found plenty. In mature timber and in 25 to 30 foot tall reprod that is open underneath...

Quick hour pick on my way home from hunting. This is from a heavily picked area. Lots of buttons.
