Thanks! We do not have Internet or Nintendo its public television or play outside for us. I've already had  Elk, Deer, Upland game, guns N ammo, and Alaska addictions so what's just one more?

Just for the heck of it.

In 2009 I was elk hunting in Utah with a group of super duper top O the line world hunters. I was definitely the "wild card" and the youngest. We were out on four wheelers scouting when the head Elmer Fudd called a halt, pointing out a coyote about 400 yards out. The leader looks at me and says "well, show us what you got." The rest of the group chuckles and winks at each other. So sounding like a pro I say "what's the range?" In a confident tone. And someone pulls out the range finder, " 369 yards" he says in a laugh.

So up til now I'm just kind of being a smart aleck playing along, well I must have used my best John Wayne voice because they were all waiting. Standing behind my four wheeler and shooting free hand I raised my Ruger mkII 30-06 and squeezed off a shot. I lost the yote with the recoil and couldn't see it at all, thinking I missed clean but not wanting to tip my hand if the yote just disappeared and no one wanted to investigate, I'd just play it cool and let em think what they wanted too! They just kinda looked at me and said "you dropped him!" In a somewhat reverent tone. Still not believing them I cooly leaned against the four wheeler and waited for the guy to go check (my wheeler was blocked in). The guy gets off and picks up the coyote by the tail! I was grinning ear to ear!

When he got back we all surrounded it and saw that I had shot it right in the head! Offhand! At 369 yards! In the wind!

They slap my back and say it was the most amazing freehand snap shot the've ever seen. From that point on I was one of the guys and they still keep in touch to this day.

When I think about it I just laugh cause I was aiming for the heart!!!!
At least I have a picture to prove it, and remind me that a little BS never hurts.
