First salvaged deer!
« on: February 20, 2017, 11:47:53 PM »
Checked off my first roadkill salvage, a 1.5 year old whitetail doe. Northbound on 195 on Friday night with a buddy to go see a friend's guitar concert in Spokane, and happened to spot a dead doe on the shoulder. We spun around and threw her into a tarp in the back of the SUV. I butchered her tonight. A little gamy, but she will mostly be transformed into summer sausage, pepperoni, and jerky. Mmmm roadkill!
Disclaimer: yes, the appropriate salvage permit was acquired.

A little pork will fix that gamy taste when you make your sausages.
