How do I put in for multi season permit?
« on: March 28, 2017, 02:54:53 PM »
I am not sure if it's worth it but I was wondering how in the world am I supposed to enter for a multi season tag? All I found is that the deadline is March 31st.

I'd be interested but I can't seem to figure out how. Any help would be appreciated. Could someone also tell me how much the cost is for the multi season tag for black-tails? I am 15 now so still a youth.

Look through this link.

You don't need to apply unless you are going for a group application or Ghost Points.

Good Luck!

They will email you after the drawing . Or if you can't wait that long watch for a 20+ page thread to pop up consisting of posts saying "DNRY" . When those stop results will be available.

Before the drawing, don't get too freaked out if a bunch of the members on here are talking about "going in through the back door."  :yike:

I am not sure if it's worth it...
You might start there by evaluating if and why you would want one. The cost to apply is not much ($4 for a youth) but the permit itself costs $139 for deer. If you are drawn are you willing to pay that much?

One option if you're not sure is to purchase a point which costs $4 for the application and increases your odds of being selected in future years.

Ok, so if I do get drawn then I can then buy the multi season permit. At that cost I don't think I would buy it, not until I am older or I have a big buck I really want to get.

Thanks for clearing this all up for me guys!

If you don't plan on buying it this year, just put in for the ghost point.  That way you'll build up points to better your chances the year you do want to buy it.  Get your elk points too if you want.

To anyone who doesn't think they will buy the multi-season.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Stop putting in for it!!   :bash:  I have been diligently applying for elk, and never get it.  I wish WDFW would make people pay up front, and then refund them if not drawn.  Either that or have an actual drawing for the left-overs.  Rant over.   :sry:

Not to thread jack but if i get drawn for multi season elk and then get drawn for a quality bull tag i am not going spend the 180 on the multi tag. So maybe they should have the multi season draw after the regular draw. But then you wouldn't be able to apply for multiple weapons. So which would you rather have

Just throwing this in for the hunters not wanting to pay that much,You still have to purchase reg. tag also so its actually $139. + $44.90 for adult res.

If you just wanted MS deer, it is pointless to even apply.  WDFW sells 13,000 applications for the tag and the majority of the selectees for the 8000 (?) tags available don't even purchase the tag.  There are always MS Deer tags available for OTC purchase in August.  Save the application fee in March and put it towards purchasing the tag in August.

Not correct, the over the counter tags are only available to people who applied but were not drawn.

Copied from page 8 of the regs:

"If selected, multi-season tags will be available to
purchase any time prior to August 1.

Permits not purchased by successful applicants by August
1 may be sold to non-selected applicants on a first-come,
first-served basis
"
