Confused with Weyerhaeuser permits
« on: April 04, 2017, 07:59:18 PM »
So where I hunt there is only one place to hunt deer and it's "public land". But there has been a massive increase in logging activity so I'm assuming you cannot hunt that land for next season. It seems like these logging companies are taking over all the public land and making people pay if they want to use it. I've downloaded xmaps and that's what I've used for last season I wil need to purchase membership to see the boundaries again. But are you allowed to hunt on DNR land? That seems to be the only public land I can find. I looked at a Weyerhaeuser permit for my area and it's $50 walk in but they are no longer selling them. Since I don't have a permit do I just have to hunt DNR land?

The permits for this coming fall have not been offered for sale yet.

Just to clarify, logging companies are not taking public land. Weyco has bought up a bunch of private timber land that the previous owners allowed the public to hunt on for free.

Yes. DNR land is public land. In most cases you can hunt DNR and Forest Service land.
