As of now  I've not seen a turd or track...but I'd bet any day now they will be out in full force.

Same here!!

I saw 1 good sized bear track Sunday at low elevation.

I think season will unfold as a normal year with a May green up, the snow is leaving very fast now but access will be muddier than usual and be careful about washouts. A lot of hunters will likely get stuck in soft and/or washed out roads, it will be a good spring for the tow companies. I would not try to go bear hunting until sometime in May.

Roger.  Winch on order.

I used quads most of the weekend to avoid getting stuck, one of my guides got stuck so bad yesterday a truck couldn't pull him out, he had to get a tractor. Per my prediction, I saw this dude stuck on opening morning, he called the wrecker, that must have sucked, had to snap a photo for this topic, all this getting stuck was at very low elevations too!   :yike:

Obviously that's what he thought!  :chuckle:

I have never seen it so muddy here, record flows in the Colville River for about 1 month now!

I don't know how it is on your end Dale, but on the southern end.....roads are sluffing everywhere and some serious slides are just a coin toss away. I won't have my kids with me in the truck up there for a while.

I haven't even bothered to try heading up yet.  I don't know if the rain will ever let up.  It's been horrible since last October.  I am ready for sun and short sleeves.

I remember something about sun and short sleeves a long long time ago...

Roads are terrible everywhere, Hwy 395 between Colville and Kettle was closed again today as the Colville River is rising again and over the highway again.  :bash:

Would you expect similar road conditions in 117?  I drew a tag for that unit, but plan on going there end of May/June.  Hopefully things will have dried out somewhat by then.

I drew spring bear for GMU 121. I have never been there and I am looking for some advice on:

1.)Dates (I was thinking of going around the last weekend of April, is this to early?)
2.) Any suggested "Hunny hole" locations that I should be looking at?
3.) ATV/Motorcycle - I have access to both, but are they necessary? I like to get back deep and hike a ton but don't want to be hiking if "Mr. Renthals" is going to be  going through rhythm sections close by all the time

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as this will be my first time bear hunting.

Thank you in advance.
Isn't The Hunny Hole a strip club? Or maybe a bikini barista hut? Lol.
