Hawks are killin my sage rats😞
« on: April 17, 2017, 10:28:41 PM »
My Sage Rat honey hole I have been hunting all my life has seen a drastic decline in sage rat population over the last couple years and coincidentally there have been 4-6 very large Hawks that have moved into the area.   We have always had Hawks around but not on a permanent basis.    They are sitting on top of the large hop poles that surround the area and the rats are a ez target for them so they have great success.    Are the Hawks going to wipe em all out?  Hawks are awesome and I would never consider harming them but.... I hope they move out soon.

Are the Hawks going to wipe em all out?

No, they will eat only a few.  They never eat everything in an area, if they did than they would have to find another place.
What I have seen with sage rats, ground squirrels,  prairie dogs is they learn quickly and stay down more offen.
No there are still rats there.
