A day in the woods with my family
« on: June 28, 2017, 08:23:03 PM »
So I have been itching to get out in the woods. I started a new department in February so life has been very busy. I was lucky enough to have the day off and the family decided to join. I have also been wanting to try out my kuiu attack pants and merino top. I also had an opportunity to use my new Maven B2 9x45 for the second time.

We got to our spot around 0900 and drove around for a bit. We went to an area we thought we would see some elk and hiked to the edge of the draw and side hilled for awhile. Sure enough a herd of at least 75, there could have been more on the backside of the hill. The interesting thing that we saw was there was not one spike in the group and TON of calves. That was great to see the winter did not beat them up too bad.

I gave my son my old Vortex Diamondbacks so now he "has his own binos" as he says. It's awesome seeing the kids so excited to be outdoors and searching for elk. I am hoping I can keep them motivated throughout the years.

As for the attack pants, all I can say is wow! Way worth the money, I felt great hiking in them all day. They breathe amazingly and have just enough stretch in them to keep you comfy. I also really like the merino top but I think for the price you can get two sets of minus 33 which I like as well.

If you are in the market for a top end bino but cannot afford Swarovski, look no further than Maven. The glass is unbelievable! The clarity and contrast were off the charts. And comparing them to a pair of SLC I would say they are on par honestly. I also like the FOV on them. I utilized mavens demo program and plan on just keeping these ones because of how impressed I was with them.

I wish everyone the best of luck this season! I really would like to make it out but I will have to take this season off   :(

I always wanted someone to carry me in a backpack chair like hers, LOL
Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

My rock,
He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.
Psalm 144.1
