2nd best time of the year for sure.

Let's just hope that the wilderness areas don't burn down with all this heat we're supposed to get all summer. 2015 was no bueno, and they're calling for a summer just as hot.

snow is finally starting to melt enough to start getting into the good stuff. A few weeks ago I noticed that snow was still hanging around 4,200 feet, hoping that it's pretty much gone by now.

FWIW - my friends and I were in the Enchantments last weekend.  Camped in between the Snow lakes and there was no snow at all around that elevation (~5400').  Up in the Core Zone there was plenty of snow (~6500-7000') but it was mostly in patches and easily traversable.

Makes me itch to do some proper scouting.

What are your favorite wildernesses to hunt in? I have always wanted to do a hunt like that.

That's a good thing. High hunt and pictures usually leads to crowds.

Well it was a quick deer season for me. Tagged out by 7:30. Meat back to camp by 1.not looking forward to the pack tomorrow. All 3 bucks I've been watching all summer were out at first light. Out at a 1000 yards. The two smaller bucks fed towards me and the 30 incher dissapeared, ended up shooting a 26" main frame 4x4 with eye guards. With trashy bases. Will post a pic when I get out.

Supposed to start snowing above 5000' tomorrow in the Olympics.  The wilderness areas below 5000' could get 4-5" of rain through the week.  Good times!

Well I finally went on my first hunt!
Unsuccessful but a good learning experience.
Got our asses kicked on a 3.5mile 1000ft elv gain hike (learned to pack lighter next time)
Had a good time, fun camping.
Saw a bear running away from us up the hill.
Saw lots I sign.
That's about it.
Now I know more for next time  :)

every year i tell myself i need to be in better shape for this next year. i have been in better shape every year. this year i really worked hard on it, averaging 4.5 days per week working out. i lifted almost 2 million pounds so far this year and i am in my best shape since getting married almost 10 years ago. my total pack in weight is down to about 45lbs for 5 days and every kind of weather. i still am surprised at how damn hard it is. embrace the suck and feel blessed if you can still do it. it never gets easy

No, not terrible. And we saw two that were big but couldn't get it done. Hoping to have the time to go back up in the regular season.
