Mid sized SUV Tires
« on: July 16, 2017, 12:32:22 PM »
I did a search of the forum and couldn't find anything on all season tires for mid sized SUVs. We have a 2016 Mazda CX-5 that will be due for new tires this fall. It is my girlfriends commuter car and is pretty much just driven in town and back and forth to Seattle a few times a year. We live in Spokane so something that is decent in the snow is helpful. Also something that isn't overly soft and will wear well. We live on a gravel road but that's about the only off pavement driving it sees. All of my tire shopping in the past has been for LT tires so I'm not sure where to start here. What have you guys found is the best balance between decent in snow and hard enough to make it past 40k? Tire size is 225 65 r17. Thanks for the help!

Figure out what tire you want and then look at pricing online. Sometimes you can save a $100 to $200. Another way to save some $ is to buy used tires at the wrecking yard or yard sale or online classifieds.

This is the time of year to find a good deal on a set of snow tires that have been hanging in some ones inventory.

Michelin LTX MS2 would be my first choice.

The dirty little secret to buying car stuff  across the border is to say your going up for lunch, shopping and tourist stuff.  Buy a little something and some duty free booze and drive your new shoes back with no discussion. Typically merchandise is more expensive in Canada, but the exchange rate and some shopping may find you some deals.

:yeah: We put a set on the wifes 4runner last summer after a blow out on a road trip in Idaho. But we went through Costco because their was not a Discount in the area. Great tire. Ridiculous tread wear guarantees.

I went through similar research except I was looking for a good, safe all-weather tire for my son's Isuzu Rodeo, which is basically a pavement queen.  Ended up with these http://tirereviewsandmore.com/taskmaster-provider-entrada-ht-reviews/, they were only $88 each in a 245 /70 R16, set of four out the door at the Wenatchee Discount Tire was $478.79

Thanks for the replies! It came stock with Yokohamas on it and they will probably be shot at about 35k I would assume. From the sounds of it Michelin may be the way to go. Still open to any other suggestions! Thanks guys
