Got my Mule Deer mount back
« on: July 18, 2017, 12:09:24 PM »
I killed this buck in 2012, then later decided to get him mounted. I used the cape of a similar-sized buck, I killed last year to complete the mount. Fidalgo Taxidermy performed the work. I never had him scored, any thoughts on how well he scores? Too bad that lousy smoke alarm is located where it is!  :chuckle:

Nice animal.  With the one view, I see him at the 150" mark.

Care to share a story of him?

Rainier10stalker here, had to ad the "stalker" to feel like one of the cool kids.  :chuckle:

Great buck.  He is every bit of 145 and maybe all the way up to 162 or 163.  Really nice deer.  You should get him scored.

Nice, Rainier10.

Why don't you just expand your range and say he's all of 100" and may go up to 200."  Then you'll for sure be accurate. :chuckle:

In all seriousness my first guess was 160", then I thought about the alternate cape and thought maybe it is from a slightly smaller deer making the antlers look bigger.

The thing about guessing on bucks over 140", which I am sure this one is, if you misjudge the points by 1-2" that adds up quick and gives you potentially an 8-16" swing in total.

I love playing the guessing game and this one is right in my wheel house.  I have a couple of 135's on the wall, a 150" and a 160" that I get to look at every day in my living room.

The cougar that you see in the cedar river taxidermy add at the top of the page sits over my head above the couch so I don't have to look at it.  My wife shot that.  :chuckle:

Great buck. I'm going with 155".  I think he's a little bigger than my 150" buck.

Is that a drop eyeguard on the right side? Trash is worth big points in my book.

Enough that I hired Bearpaw for a guided hunt with dogs this December in Idaho.

That does look like a dropper.  Trash counts for bonus points in my book as well.  All of mine have been typical.  My wife of course has a non typical under her belt.  Another one that gets under my skin just a little bit.  >:(

Here's another one. His G4 is 12" long on the left side, 10" on the right. 25" wide (outside spread)
