The guys that are working up there haul some arse on those roads. We are required to go 20mph with lights on and these contractors are doing 50 around blind corners in their pickups.
Politicians like Jay Inslee are the reason we have the 2nd Amendment

Anyone who bought the permit I strongly suggest calling the admin or at least emailing her and voicing an opinion. I suggested, as well as a couple of friends are going to do, to close the east side of the permit area since that is where the logging is taking place and leaving the west side open for us to use. This should not be an issue as the road splits just inside the gate. She is going to bring it up to the manager and see if there is a way to compromise and allow us to at least get a little bit out of our permit this year.   I don't see why the guys permit wasn't revoked and that be the end of it, but they do need to look out for their contractors, themselves, as well as us permit holders.

Or at least let us up there on the weekends, could you post a link to whoever you are emailing as I will do the same.
I agree with steeleywhopper that the worst drivers are the loggers doing 45 mph coming out of there (not the log trucks).

Not happy with the closure as I live a few minutes away from the granite falls site and that was mostly the reason I purchased the pass. 1 week in to bear season, sorry! Closed!. Fml. I emailed them, they expect it to be closed for approx 2 months.  :bash:
I'm in the same boat.

The response I got...
Quote
We expect the area to be closed around 2 months.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but we do the closures for safety reasons when we have heavy traffic on roads.  We state in our permit that areas may be closed due to forestry operations.  The North Cascades Chelan permit area is 94,440 acres.  There are other areas you can still go that are not affected by a closure.

This is the exact response I got. Cut and paste... They obviously are not hunters.

That was her first response to me when I called. After I had given her a couple of suggestions about possibly allowing us to use the half that they are not logging, and did more than just complain, her tone changed to where she started asking questions and became a little more open about it all. This is the primary reason I wanted to call as well instead of only emailing.

While it's not great news, it sounds like a little bit of good news could come out later this week for us vehicle permit holders

Sounds like its going in the right direction. I hope it works out as I will be hitting all you fellow permit holders up for places, honey holes, etc.

I have been working with Weyerhaeuser on this since they sent the first email. There are a few small logistics we are ironing out, then they will send out the email. As it looks right now, we should have access this weekend, and for the next 2 months or so we will have access friday night, through sunday night, as long as no one screws this up like they did in the first place.

Why don't they just kick out the guy that had the near miss with the logging truck? No reason to penalize the rest of the you guys??!!

That was one of the things I was wondering, but I believe it is probably more of a liability thing, they just didn't want to chance it happening again. There will be an email sent out today with the temporary schedule for weekends. I believe it will be Friday at 4:00 PM through Sunday at dusk, locks will be changed for the weekdays. It will be on a "trial" basis, if all goes well we will continue to have access for the next 2 months until the logging companies are done for the season.
