MA10 coho
« on: August 22, 2017, 10:14:18 AM »
I'm headed out on Saturday with a vet in the Salmon for Soldiers event.  Any reports or knowledge anyone can pass on to help me make sure we get our guy on the fish?  I'm up to speed on catching coho, I just haven't fished MA10 before and haven't targeted them this year due to the regs in 8-2 and 9.

I've done well out the shipping channel and off West Point.  Same drill as everywhere else in the sound from what I've seen.

Word is there are a bunch of Pinks and Coho off of Edmonds the last few days.
My sled has the name " FISH 4 FUN " on the back, a 21' white WELDCRAFT inboard. Come over and say hello

I cant help anyone with area 10 but 11 has been pretty good fishing lately.  Weekends are a zoo though. Chinook bite is still going strong.  Hope it holds for another 2 weeks so I can fill the freezer.  Biggest so far is 14 pounds.

For the Salmon For Soldiers event we will all be launching from Everett so Edmond's will be the first stop we can get after them.

Wazntme, you are correct there is a captains meeting on Friday night

Will do, we're in an 18' black RH Seahawk with a grey top, hopefully slaying them.

While we're on the topic, does anyone run divers to get extra rods out?  I normally only run two riggers, but picked up a dipsy diver and a 12' rod thinking some combination might get it down and out of the way of the rigger lines.  It might work or be a holy nightmare.

Divers work fine.  Sometimes they catch fish when the DR don't.  Usually isn't an issue tangling with the DR lines because the angles are so different.

I wouldn't be afraid to run a cutplug right on top. Put one of those helmets on a brined herring behind just enough of a,trolling weight to keep it under. Early am bite can be some awesome take downs on the surface.

YES, a diver and a shallow running bait can be lethal.

I run a cut plug herring with a 3 or 4 ounce moon weight of the middle of the boat.  Usually does well for silvers.
