As WDFW is considering the 2018-2020 hunting seasons, I thought it timely to send the following suggestion:
I am asking WDFW to consider a change to the eastern Washington black bear bag limit. Currently, a successful eastern Washington spring black bear hunter is not allowed to participate in the general fall black bear season in eastern Washington. I would like to see a change to the bag limit as follows: Two black bear during the license year, only one (1) of which may be taken in Eastern Washington during the fall general season.
Avid bear hunters who are fortunate enough to harvest a black bear during the spring permit season in Eastern Washington would like to have the opportunity to hunt black bear in the fall also. The change would have minimal impact as spring bears are hunted in areas where additional harvest is desired. WDFW would see a slight increase in revenue as successful spring black bear hunters would purchase a second bear tag.
If you agree with this suggestion, feel free to send your own recommendation or copy mine. The more WDFW hears this from eastern Washington bear hunters, the more likely this change can occur.
