Atlantics
« on: August 24, 2017, 10:57:33 PM »
Fun fish to catch, frustrating when they swim by and splash you with their jumping without hooking up.  I haven't tried them yet, but they look decent and will likely be good smoked or canned.  There seems to be a lot of negativity towards eating them.  I'm not sure why since millions of pounds of farmed salmon are probably eaten every year.

Damn! One of these days I am going to come visit you.  I I know we have talked about it, but my timing sucks....Only days I am going to get to do anything soon will be elk season.
But someday....

They are absolutely delicious!  Use any way you would a Chinook!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Think I'm gonna head to the west side tomorrow for the morning tide change.  But might take a crack at the Atlantics on our way home.  How are you fishing for them?

Small Point Wilson Darts seemed to work well for other boats today, guys next to us were using a 1 3/4" chartreuse and green one. The other boat doing well today was throwing a small, maybe 2" heavy spoon of some kind in chartreuse.  Yesterday my friend caught most of our fish on a larger Dart.  I caught mine on a Silver Horde Kingfisher spoon with a small weight ahead of it on a leader to give it some weight.  I had a lot of follow-ups on this as well.

Went out last night after work for a few hrs and bonked 9. Black and yellow mepps #4 spinner got most of our fish.

I will be honest, it was a lot more fun that I expected. They fight much harder than I though pen fish would.
