Finally
« on: October 11, 2017, 04:00:05 PM »
Last year was a bust for me and my new dog.  If I remember right, I was never able to get her on any birds.  All my normal spots, for some reason, had no more birds.  We'll today was our first outing this year, to a new area again.  And finally able to get her on some birds.  At first, she couldn't remember what to do.  She was literally standing on a bird I shot and didn't know it was there.  Even winged one that went down, and she couldn't find it for anything.  We covered a lot of different ground and after about 6 hours we went back to the first spot where I lost the bird.  And wouldn't you know it, bout 100 yards away from where it went down in the first place, she found the dead quail.  By the end of the day she found her nose and was doing a great job.  Ended the day with 4 quail and 3 huns.

Also, in the truck on the way home,  noticed my dog licking the inside of her front leg, by her armpit.  Took a look and noticed she has a decent puncture wound, probably from the countless barbwire fences we were going through.  Will keep an eye on it.  Hopefully she'll be just fine.

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you come close to what can be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber having heard it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

Love her smile, that is a happy dog right there!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Well done! I've taken to putting a protective nylon vest on my Springer because of such hazards. KV Supply has a nice one for not too much.

:tup:Definitely have to watch them around barbed wire. They will just keep going even with some serious injuries. Don’t ask me how I know.  :bash:  I invested in some vests to help keep the vet bill down.
