Do you guys use some kind of leash for your gun?

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

My yak came with a black cord leash. Attached a sling swivel to it.
Gun stays in a float soft case down the left side when going to or from spot.
Once dekes  are out and I am hidden the gun goes on the leash.

Going to get the yak gear Ambush cover for it.
But using couple grass mats for it right now.

Let me know when you want to take it for a shakedown hunt....   ;)  :chuckle: :chuckle:

I posted a link to someone selling a kayak in the classifieds if anyone is looking.  I can't drop the coin right now or would have been pretty tempted.

I hunt exclusively out of a kayak. Nu Canoe Frontier 10. It's so sneaky I almost feel bad for the ducks....ALMOST.

Great little boat, until I can scrounge up the coin for a 4Rivers EBADS with a mudmotor that is...

I transport on top of Yakima bars on both the Tacoma with cover and the Outback. I know guys that use bed extenders for boat under 13 feet too.

Your age will determine how you transport. I am 66.
I do both.

I bought a bed extender to Cary one in truck. Nissan.
I bolted 3/4 saddles for 3/4 inch conduit down the top rail of my utility trailer. Run 5 ft conduit across to other saddle the lock with Allen screw.
Covered conduit with pipe foam insulation tubes.
Holds two kayaks.
Easy on and off.

I toss mine right on top of my 4Runner Bone. Roof rack and some ratchet straps, good to go. Boat only weighs 65# or so. You can go way lighter than that, but then you start sacrificing stability, which is not something I like to do when hunting ducks.

That's pretty dang smart, I will have to try that for sure, great way to get double use out of a typical cargo trailer.

I always transport upside down directly on the rack. Be careful with ratchet straps during the summer. They can tighten too tight and cause deformation when the plastic gets warm.

Yep I read that.

Hour or less I transport hull down. Over that I would turn them.
I decided not to use ratchet straps. Just bungees and good old rope.
