Hi mountain breakfast sausage kit help
« on: November 04, 2017, 02:33:48 PM »
I've made a few other of their kits with success. But not with this one, so far I've mixed a whole pouch of the seasoning into my mix when the ratio only called for 1/4 cup, and I still can't get any flavor out of it, I know I'm a little short on the fat but still hardly any Maple blend flavor.

Any ideas?

Have you let it sit for awhile ? If not put it in the fridge for a day and then try it . Also try a tiny amount of the cure straight see if it has something missing/bad batch  :twocents:

I let it sit overnight to sunday, tried it again, no good.  To try to save it I threw some other seasonings and a bunch of maple syrup. Its edible, but not what it should be in my opinion.

I emailed the company, they said everyone reacts differently to the flavors... uhhhhh. It has none!

That said, I did the hunters blend summer sausage, its delish!

Any chance that is was sitting on the shelf for a long time and the spices are not so fresh? I've heard when that happens it pretty much just ends up tasting salty.

I sent them the batch number, and they said its fresh, Ive only had it a month. I swear the mix was bad, who knows, they are going to send me something else to try.

I'd ditch that msg loaded bs and make a mix of a quality that you can only get from good fresh spices & herbs.Look up Maple Breakfast Sausage on Allrecipes.com. I don't add that much anise or fennel as it makes it too Italian for breakfast but you might like it full strength.
