Accurate Yakima reservation border
« on: November 05, 2017, 01:59:33 PM »
I was looking at Onx maps and then at Google maps and they show differing borders of the Yakima reservation. According to Google maps the town of Glenwood is in the reservation(https://www.google.com/maps/place/Yakama+Indian+Reservation,+South+Yakima,+WA/@46.094411,-121.2746467,9z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x5497a33a3be558b7:0x904bd0a6e902eb4d!8m2!3d46.2619033!4d-120.8489815), yet if you look at Onx maps it is not on the reservation (although a portion of the town is reservation land). And then I found this (http://www.hoodrivernews.com/news/2016/apr/20/klickitat-co-says-glenwood-not-part-yakama-reserva/) article from last year. So if I hunt the state land that Onx says is state land am I going to get arrested by the tribal cops?

It appears to be in dispute.

I just looked at the GMU map (http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/gmu/2017-2018_gmus.pdf) from WDFW and it agrees with what Onx says.

It clearly states Yakama Indian Reservation no Trespassing if people would leave the signs alone and not vandalize them.

Well, it's disputed, so... :dunno:

If the WDFW and OnX agree and say the land's open, it's open. You can put up no trespassing signs on public land all day long. That doesn't make them private. Tribal lands are determined by treaties. If the treaty says it's tribal, the state would, too.

The town of Glenwood is not reservation, there are Parcels in the valley that are owned by the tribe but the valley itself is all owned by private landowners or private Timber companies.
