Hunting/Fishing Supporter Senator Kirk Pearson Resigns
« on: November 07, 2017, 08:34:28 PM »
Senator Kirk Pearson who for the past few years has led the Senate Natural Resource and Parks Committee will resign his Senate post to take an appointment with the US Department of Agriculture. Pearson is probably hunters/fishers biggest advocate in Olympia and the main reason we didn't see a license increase this year.

Sad to see him go, but with the Democrats taking control of the WA Senate he also lost his Chair seat.

Hopefully his new position allows him to continue supporting hunters. I know he has always been gracious when I e-mail him.

More bitter than sweet in my opinion, but I wish him well and hope we can find someone like him on the ballot.

Senator Pearson was a lion in the legislature for hunters and will no doubt continue to be in his new role with the USDA.  He has my utmost respect and appreciation.

That said, and not taking anything at all away from him, but he was an integral component of a circle of influence that was ultimately responsible for no license fee increases this year, among other things.  I'm proud that SCI and HHC were part of that effort and able to help sportsmen in this regard.
