How much sausage off a big blacktail doe?
« on: November 14, 2017, 12:23:03 PM »
I had the BT doe I shot made into brats and Italian at Farmer George, everything except the backstrap & tenderloin.

Must have been a bit bigger than I thought.  I'm kinda curious what this one weighed.  I have had a doe split betw/brats and Italian before, but this one filled a 94 quart cooler when my buddy picked it up.  I don't remember that before.

Looks like the lil' Hasty chilln' won't be hurting for their default meal of spaghetti w/meatballs anytime soon.  The wife just mixes the Italian w/breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan and fries em' up.  Instant meatballs

Don't they normally add pork to it, so what you get back should be more than what you brought in? Not really too sure, as I don't have that kind of stuff made very often, as it's NOT cheap.    :o

Well that's pretty good haul.  Don't most places add about 1/3 or so beef/pork?

Ya.. added weight from mix, pork, beef cuts etc... generally 20 percent. Give or take.

$212 for everything.  I go with their default pork fat add every year.  Farmer George makes our favorite brats & Italian.  I go with Stewarts when I need summer sausage and/or jerky.  We never cook plain ground for hamburgers, Italian makes a really tasty burger.  We use chili grind for burritos & chili and she uses very little plain hamburger.  The wife uses the Italian for meatloaf too, just puts egg, shredded carrots, oatmeal and some other stuff in it like black olives & mushrooms.  Makes a hearty & tasty loaf.

Lider Rd. :chuckle:. His cows are always getting out and nearly causing collisions.....I would never take meat to his shop, but I process all my own so I really don't trust any butcher/ processor.

What the hell:  Are you saying they were fattening up my grass fed deer with bread when I wasn't looking and didn't tell me about it?  The nerve of some people.
