Coyote and other Predator Calling
« on: November 27, 2017, 09:08:53 PM »
What are people's favorite calls to use when calling coyotes and other predators? I use primarily adult cottontail in distress for coyotes. But I would really like to get into bobcat hunting and need some pointers for that as well.

I use lots of bird sounds, virtually no rabbit. and I sound I make that no one can tell me what I am imitating but it works.

I bet @bearmanric can hook you up.  He makes some cool calls that can double as coffee table decor in the offseason.

I think his calls look best like this:

but you could put them on a coffee table too

Higher pitched as always worked well for me. Woodpecker or I think the name was nutty nuthatch. Woodpecker got 3 bobcats in last year. All 3 lived though... It still hurts to think about.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Worry about your approach, wind, noises you are making, more than the call or the sound, start softly and be patient, and don’t be making all the movements you see on T.V. Shows.... you will be successful, if you are persistent.
