Slowing?
« on: November 30, 2017, 11:10:01 AM »
I was out this morning and saw the fewest ducks I have seen since last season despite pretty great conditions.  I'm wondering if the ducks are just thin due to the recent warm weather or if all this water has them all spread out.  I'm seeing ducks all over the place by my house in the small sheet ponds forming, but not much flying today.

What are you guys seeing?

Haven't been out for a bit but going out this weekend. I am thinking it is probably a combination of lack of new birds in the area plus all the open water has them spread out and loafing wherever they please.

I beleive your huntn local birds right now, ifva pkace gets shot up on a regular basis it doesn't take long for those birds that came there very long to find a place they won't get shot at!! We need a big cold spell to shove the northern s down, otherwise it could be a slow year for places that get a lot of people huntn them!! I see it every year at my place and I only allow one guy to hunt it and he hunts it only a couple times a month
my grandpa always said "if it aint broke dont fix it"

There’s a lot of open water.

The ducks at the park across the street haven't flown this year. They usually have by now.

Lots of ducks in SW Washington where I've been hunting. None coming into my decoys.   :bash:  But lots flying around.

We've hunted from ID to McNary refuge in the last week, and between. Locals.... very stale. We've had success on private ground, but public has been tough. We've been doing better than others, but have had to work for it.

Bird numbers are pretty high but they are in patterns with heavy feeding occurring at night then birds staying on safe waters all day. pretty stale. Looks like some colder weather is on its way at least for eastern Washington, hopefully some ponds will lock up forcing birds to find new areas.

I have been patiently waiting for the freeze to happen. I just hope its not like some years where it happens suddenly and quickly so that the new birds use us as a pit stop and keep right on going

I agree, looks like lows will be in the mid to low 20s in moses lake so hopefully it will bring some more birds in town.

Get out and do some driving.  Lots of birds around.   Saw lots of large flocks all the way to the Canadian boarder today.
Cut em!
