Delorme inReach question
« on: December 20, 2017, 10:15:41 PM »
Recently bought a Delorme inReach Explorer (the old Delorme version not the new Garmin version) and am trying to figure out how to use the maps.

For some reason when I open the map app it only shows my position on a blank grid—without any actual map.

Anybody know how to get an actual map to show up or is this all it does?

I think you need to add some maps to your device.

For some reason I can not for the life of me figure out how to download the maps.  Do you just do it on the Garmin website?

I've spent a couple hours trying to figure it out and am feeling like a total idiot.

Thanks for the responses.  No issues with the Garmin App on my phone--in fact, I really like that app.  I am going to get the hunting layer for it, which appears to be a much less expensive but equally functional equivalent of Onx.

My problem is with the maps on the InReach devise itself.  The location shows up but no actual map images on the InReach's screen.  Not sure if they are supposed to show up or if the device doesn't actually have the ability to display maps on its own screen.  I'll give Garmin a call and see what the deal is.
