BGT - what powders have you worked with in your 264WM? I'll admit I almost gave up on mine but finally landed on some magic.

I wanted to shoot the 143 ELD-X but couldn't find wwhat I was looking for with retumbo, H1000, or H50BMG. Could get to 3200 but not without blowing primer pockets. Accuracy and ES suffered as well.

After talking with Scott at Quarter Minute Magnums over in Idaho I switched to the Berger 140 VLD and H4831SC. Magic combo in the 264WM. I'm running a 3100 fps (26" tube) with bughole groups at 200 yards. ES is not qui perfect but under 20. That combo might be worth a try if your looking for options.
i've mostly played with 7828 and retumbo.  would like to try some RL33 but it's completely disappeared around here.  i think it's just my barrel -- too short to be optimal, and book max loads won't give me anywhere near the velocity that they say(i tried some 120gr barnes, and just barely cracked 3000fps with their max for retumbo, which according to their data should give 3280fps from a 24" barrel).

i feel that my barrel might just be shot out -- the rifle is a 1965 M700 with a factory stainless tube.  it's got a very short throat that i think might be part of the problem, my first 7828/140AB loads would hit published velocity, but i soon after learned that they were jamming in the rifling(i love the OAL gauge i bought since then), probably causing pressure to be higher.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I’ve got a new 28 Nosler I’m playing with.  I also have parts for a 6.5-280ai I need to get put together.

I have a .264wm M70 with 24" barrel with 1:9 twist.  I hear you on the depressing velocity part.  What is depressing is when my brother shoots over my chrono with his 22" barrel .270 win with 140 gr VLD's and gets 3100 fps.   :(  Here I am with a magnum, way more powder than his, and 150 fps or more less than his .270 win.

I'm going to bed the rifle after duck season and hope to get some better groups with it, but I'm really questioning even keeping the rifle when I could really just go with a .270 win and get better velocity.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

I've been on the lookout for a unique product to induce my buddy to pull the trigger on the cnc machine.

I've got a 28" custom 22-250 that was made in about 1964 that is getting shot out. It's on a FN Commercial 98 action, I'm thinking about having it board out to 6.5 chambered to Creed.

After swearing off ARs after getting out of the military... Carpsniper caught me hook line and sinker with a beautiful 6.5grendal. Now I'm just trying to find a way to apologise to the wife  :chuckle:

I'm so out of touch with today's trends.  I'm in the process of restoring a 1960's era 20 gauge SXS.  Making it great again for another half century of service.  Everyone should have a meaningful winter project.  Whatever it may be.

I recently purchased a s&w m&p compact which is my first real bottom feeder. So I’ve been spending some time familiarizing my self with it. I’m also preparing for an optic upgrade. All my funds are headed that way. After that I’m either going to restock my cuz 527 or possibly build a 10/22

kicking around the idea of a 40 super long slide, but don't like the double stack mag issues, who wants to single stack?  Still, it'd make a nice hunter.

I have to say a side by side is my favorite gun to hunt with. I need to do more upland so that I can use mine more.

I did a little temp testing of rl 26 and N570 last week.  Between 32-72 degrees there was 10 FPS average difference.  I tried the 147 eldm out of my 6.5 wsm.  Picked .010 off the lands and loaded 60-61.6 in .2 grain increments and shot this group. Going to do a ladder soon to see what shakes out.
