Exactly!  We named our dog Hank too.  We then looked up Des and sent him an email thanking him for his great show.

I usually go with money names, for a working dog. I've had dollar, cash, penny, and nickel.

Mostly its to remind me of exactly how much a dog is worth to me as I watch him scatter cattle all over the pasture just as they head into the corrals

Another way I name stuff is to just use the same name as the fella I get a pup from. So I've had a frank, Allen, bob, and Larry. I'm pretty sure I'll change it up if I ever get a pup from a Blanche!

As my screen name suggests, I am partial to Torrent.  I am about to adopt a second and leaning towards Tundra.

I was working on a boat house construction site, just doing my job when along comes this year old Yellow Lab with a tennis ball in his mouth.
Dog comes up to Me and drops the ball on my feet. “Ok boy, here you go” I tossed the ball over into the stand of trees near by. That little guy took off like a shot. I go back to what I was doing. Not two minutes later I see a tennis ball roll past my feet. Wow,
That was fast. I love dogs so I chuck the ball harder into the same area of trees and get back to work. Well you can see where this is going every 2 to 3 min or less, boom
Tennis ball at my feet. About the 10th or 11th throw and I hear the Forman and the boat house owner talking and heading My way. Time to get back to work Little dog.
One last toss, this time I really put some mustard on it.
The Forman and owner ask how it’s going, check on My progress, and start to bs with Me. Just as We are getting to really know each other I hear the sounds of that little yellow Lab running our way.
“Oh God hear He comes” shouts the owner “Go away You little *censored*”
“What ever You do guys don’t throw that darn tennis ball for Him”
“Why” I asked
“Well, that dog has a bit of a problem. He wants that ball thrown so bad that if you stop He will bark and bark, then He will start to bite, if you don’t cooperate”
About this time the tennis gets dropped on My foot.
“Oh your screwed” says the owner laughing
“Is He Your dog?” I asked. Hopefully for help
“Nope, but you can have Him if You want. His name is Freebee. He swims around the lake looking for anyone that is dumb enough to throw the ball for him”
“Looks like that’s You today”
Then they walked off and the barking began. I figured it was best if I avoided eye contact and just ignored Freebee. Well.... that didn’t work for Freebee. Just as the owner described He began to bite the back of My legs as I tried to do My job.
He had Me captured. There was no where to run or hide. I’m outside building onto this boat house. He would just wait and wait, bark and bark, then when I wasn’t looking.
Ouch, You little son of a *****. He was relentless
At one point I just threw the ball to get a 3 min break from Him.
Then I finally gave in and would just quickly toss the ball 5 or ten feet each time.
Well smart dogs don’t appreciate that sort of half ass effort. I received a warning growl followed up with a solid nip to the ankle. The line had bin drawn, you throw the ball for real or you get the nip. I was being trained by the Dog!
So I gave in
Throw the ball! Work! Throw the ball work! Work!
I was working so hard to keep up with His demands.
Lunch time arrived and I had a plan
I walked down to the dock threw that ball out into the lake as far as I could and there He went. So I stepped up My plan “get it Freebee, come on Boy you can do it!”
I started cheering Him on and encouraging Him as much as I could “go faster!”
My plan was to work that little Dog until He finally got so tired out that He wouldn’t want to fetch that darn tennis ball for the rest of the day.
What I didn’t know is that that is not in a gun dog at least not this little gun dog.
After 30+ swims out to the middle of this small lake and up onto the dock. I saw Him go under the water. Like no dog!
I stripped off My gear as fast as I could and jumped in. He was doing just enough to pop up for air every couple seconds. I thought OMG I fricking killed the little guy.
I got to Him just in time to save His torturous ass.
Put him up on the dock. I flopped onto My back panting like a dog myself completely out of breath
And do you know what that dog did?
He dropped the same tennis ball on My chest and licked My face.
He had never let go of that ball. He was willing to drown to bring that ball back.
No level of panic or certain death was going to stop Him.
I will never forget that day. My first experience with a true gun Dog.
They are special even a Freebee

Please for the love of God tell me that you took Freebee home and made him the best Duck Dog you would ever have in your whole life?

Even if its a  lie just say that you did that...

Lol

Dogs with that much drive would be worth some training frustration.
