Depends on what you want to attract.  I use a few apples during the summer to stop deer along trails I'm watching.  Some say peanut butter works too.  Cob works for some, but I tried it with ZERO luck.

Here on the beach we always have a supply of clam guts.  When we used to be able to trap I used the guts and clam necks for an attractant.  It worked on coyote, racoon, bobcat, otter, possum even had a cougar get into a otter set once.  Dry dog food also works.  Deer and elk= grain , fruit, salt lick.

mostly want cats and yotes. Deer are not an issue right now, since they are not packing horns.

Poke some holes in a can of tuna or sardines and attach it to a tree.  I saw some cool videos of bobs, yotes and fox trying to get to the goodie.

Fryer grease and dog food for bears for sure and a gallon bottle of molasses from Costco with a nail pricked through it hung above a rock out of reach the bears will lick the rock away once they come to the grease and dog food the dripping molasses will keep them coming back everytime.. Even add a honey gallon bottle too, more expensive with the honey but works like crazy...  My old station has a four foot holes where they have excavated the dirt to lick up the sweet goodies droppings... Of course it was 1000lbs (twenty 50lbs bags) of Dog food and 50 gallons of grease that kept them coming back for the six week period...

So how do you know he was not interested? It got him to stop didn't it?
Most cameras have a lag time that will not catch a yote unless it stops to poke around.

I bet he was interested, until he heard (or sensed) the camera power up. Then either a click or flash spooked him.

A Seattle hiker tied to a tree with a bacon hat... :chuckle:
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Whats the  differnce between baiting for pictures and baiting for killing?  Im not sure if I think its a good idea. Not to sound like a  :tree1: but sell me.  Why is it OK?   :dunno:.  Is it possible that some people kill animals at the same place they bait for pictures?

The difference is that one is for pictures and one is for killing.
It is possible that some would abuse it but that is against the law.

You can bait bears all you want you just can't hunt them by baiting them.
