Arrow? I heard the 380s don’t get down next to the roads until rifle season opens up...but that’s a draw tag. Probably best to go with the sure 350 and a OTC archery tag.

The reason Idaho has  OTC units for elk is the terrain weeds 90% of the hunters out in non roaded areas and the road areas are crowded like anywhere else. For hunters willing to put in the work and vertical miles its a good option, Id say that's 5% of hunters maybe less.

There's no Elk in Idaho. Just sayin'
A bad day in the woods is better than a good day at work.

all the same it still floors me how guys feel the need to come online and announce there hunting plans and specific units. what exactly do you get from it?

Hopefully they get some info that aids in their hunt!

I've hunted 36A. Its been 18 years, so the only information I have that is still relevant relates to topography.  It was not as rugged as some might say.  Not as rugged as most WA wilderness areas.  Prob better to backpack in, which works there because there are large roadless sections.

Most definitely some elk there. Get off the roads and back in a way and you’ll do ok.

You know what they say...if you can see 4 elk on google earth, there’s 400 in the nearby trees. I’m changing my whole plan this year...PIONEER ZONE!!!

Nobody move. I’ll contact IDFG to see if we can get a groupon for 25 or so NR tags!!

No hurry. Those elk are in those same meadows every time that I've looked! I think IDFG plants them there for non-residents. Sorry Idaho Guy...

Quit peeing on my parade this fall I’m headed south! Sounds like a few hundred thousand non residents hunt there how could that many non resident elk hunters be wrong?
