Glad to find this site while scouting for mule deer
« on: February 02, 2018, 02:00:11 PM »
I move to Vancouver Washington a few years ago and will be mule deer hunting Washington for the first time. I've been doing a lot of scouting on Google Earth, Onxhunt maps, WDFW website and going back through old magazine articles that I've been collecting. Later this spring I'll be hitting the canyons, mountains and draws of eastern Washington looking for deer.

I'm 48 and I grew up hunting Oregon with my dad and for the last 21 years I've been blessed to have my son hunt with us. I've archery hunted for elk a couple years in western Washington and my plan is to rifle hunt mule deer this fall. I like getting away from the crowds so I'm researching some different areas that I can backpack into.

Thank you for allowing me to join the group and look forward to sharing information I have and learning from others. Meeting like minded people in the field and on this site will also be enjoyable and a goal of mine.

In addition to hunting Washington, I hunt Montana and accompanying my father and son on their Oregon hunts. Every so often I travel to Canada and Alaska for DIY moose hunt. Short of having pack animals, I'm set up with just about everything I need tone pack in hunt for several days or set up a base camp for a week or more. I also fish the Columbia for salmon from buoy 10 up to the John Day dam and always looking for someone to fill a seat in my boat.

Thanks again for adding me.
Mark

Dang!  I thought you were going to share your new hunting site that you found while you were out scouting!

Welcome to the forum.  As long as you're in the 'Couve, you might consider challenging yourself with some of the local Blacktail action.  Once you go black(tail), you never go back(tail).... or something like that  :o

FYI - We have cracked down on this, it is no longer tolerated, it's a fast way to get a vacation from this site!
