King Salmon

Don't know what to say about UW professors quote :bash:

Researchers are still looking into the predator-prey relationship of Chinooks and orcas but they say it may not be possible for Chinook salmon populations and orcas to be robust at the same time. "When you have predators and prey interacting in a real ecosystem, everything can’t flourish all the time," said Daniel Schindler, a UW professor of aquatic and fishery sciences. "These observations challenge our thinking about what we expect the structure and composition of our ecosystems to be."

He's going to be hearing from the pro wolf groups to tone it down.

What's curiouse is how some orcas have learned to hunt other animals, but until they learn how won't eat anything else.

If you do some quick you tube searches  everything from people and dogs seem safe...

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

They seemed to have done just fine together up until the last 40 years, LOL

Except they haven't.  They have steadily decreased in size in the past 100 years as we've systematically targeted them in mixed stock fisheries.  The shrinking size has been noted for decades.  Here's an enlightening image:

We need the transient orca pods to pay us a visit, they're the seal killers. Maybe they could swoop in and give our wimpy locals a lesson!

Interesting article!
According to the article it is fishing not Orcas that has been changing the size of the Salmon.
