Well, I waited a couple hours and never saw anything. Must have bedded or gave me the slip.
The guys that said it is early were right. With that said I think there may be a bear here and there but a guy still needs to wait a week or more. I knew it was early but wanted to get out and take in some fresh air. Upon returning home tomorrow I'm breaking out the ankle weights. That snow on top of the snowshoes adds a considerable amount to each step. That and I'm not used to sinking 2"-1' each step. Not complaining, just something I had not accounted for.
The grass is sprouting up high, but not enough to sustain anything yet. There are purple and yellow flowers out, not sure if the bears eat them. If you guys get out soon, take a minute and listen to the birds and squirrels when alone. Pretty soothing listening to them doing what they do. I'll take a look around in the morning and update if needed. Heading back in a few weeks to continue the search. Good luck guys.

Glad you were able to get out. It’s got to be awesome having that place to yourself.

Couple more weeks and you’ll be in them.

Heading in Thursday for 6 days. Will also be doing some snow shoeing for the first time. Been working out but expect the tops of the thighs to be sore. Buddy scouted around 6000' last week and spotted 6. We have 2 tags so hoping to bring a couple of the big ones out with us.

There’s got to be a ton of snow left up that high?
Awesome that he saw 6.

Your buddy saw 6 bears on top of 6-8 feet where you will be hiking?
Im assuming you're going hiking where he saw the 6 bears?
I bet the hair on those is perfect.

Just got back from a 6 day trip. We hiked close to 40 miles and snowshoed close to 15 of those. Seen 23 bear total. Buddy I hunted with shot a young cinnamon. I missed a really pretty brownish red colored bear Monday night. Headed in for 4 days on the 24th to try and redeem myself. If you have a wenaha tag get out there, lots of bears moving around

I am sure they are sloppy as it has done nothing but pour here the last 3 days. But if there is good gravel down you will be alright

I'd give the ranger station in Pomeroy a call.

Good Luck.
