Not 200 flippin' yards off the freeway - top o' Ryegrass hill. Just sittin' on their butts yesterday enjoying the sun and the sounds of the wind turbines!

Yep they love it up there. Glad they are working on the fences and all that because they do like to try to cross the highway too.  :bdid:

Yeah, they are cute when they are up on the hill.
Not so cute when there are 5 of them standing broadside on the freeway at 3am when it is icy and foggy out...

Only a fraction of the numbers that were there in January.  Think most have finally worked back up, little safer driving thru there now.

So how many got killed on the freeway this year? Was it as bad as a few years ago?

Been wonderin' that myself.

I live in Yakima and regularly travel to the Vantage area.  Overall saw way less activity by 90 this year vs last year (expected given the milder winter).  Hopefully that translated to a lot less roadkill and better calf recruitment...

I was headed east on I-90 on Sunday morning, around 10 am- saw about 150 on the burned area from a few years back.  Good to see big herds of elk!
