Did you screw barrel on then ream it with some type of a chamber pilot ? or reamer just pilots off front in barrel?
reamer has a floating pilot
Was super easy. The 338rcm is identical to the 338/375 ruger in every way Except length. Reamer slid right in tight as can be and it was very easy to keep it nice and square.  Very surprised how fast the reamer removes material.   I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.

Now you need to order up a 270 Weatherby prefit and you can use my 270 Boondoggle reamer too. That would make for the perfect matched pair.

That would be nice. Could run both barrels on this action.   Could load them out long.
Idk I’m still dreaming of the Chey tac.  You know I’m a sucker for barrel burners
Tell me more about the boondoggle yorke. Case capacity?  You got one up and running yet?
I’ve been thinking about the 416 Barrett

I do want to give a big thank you to yorke for all his help with this build and the use of his reamer!  Idk how I’ll repay your kindness but I’ll think of something

Little load work this morning.
Berger 250gr elite hunters & h4350
77gr seems to be a good node at 2990
9 shot group and 1 pull. Point of aim was single shot below group

That's perfect! I use 76.5gr H4350 with the 250gr bullets in my 18" Striker with identical results on target.

The Boondoggle is just a 375 Ruger taken all the way down to 270; die formed cases hold 98.6gr H20. I haven't had a barrel chambered yet because I really wanted to wait and build it on the ARC Nucleus action whenever that shows up. I do have a couple of Savage take off barrels in 270 Win sitting around that I think I'll have chambered to form brass and start testing powders. I'll get that done as soon as I get the headspace gauge back from you.

You know, if you wanted to go 338 CT I can help with that too.  :chuckle:

Your reamer, go gage and T handle will ship out in the am.   I am interested in they chey tac.  But I need a bigger action and the bells to go with it.    Wish I could go shoot today but the smoke is so bad I can’t see my 400 yard plates.

I still have more load work to do because last night I swapped back to my original bottom metal and that gives me more room to load them out closer to the lands but I’m very happy with the build as is.

If your mag box will let you run a longer OAL than the freebore in the chamber will just let me know and I'll send out the .338 throating reamer.

Gained .040” with the bdl but did not get a good test. This Blackhawk stock it just way to flexible in the forgrip to use properly with a bi pod. I can shoot it very well off my bench rest but put the bipod on it’s a 1/2” tall by 2” wide group.  Hate this stock more and more each day.  Loving the rifle other than the stock issues. If I shoot off my rest or front and rear bags I shoot well. Bipod is a no go at this point.

Well I think I’m going to need to replace my 735 yard target. Shots are a day apart.  Almost punched threw 1/2 mild steel

That looks great!

Have you had a chance to try any of the 8x68 brass yet? I finished testing both the Norma and RWS cases in my 338/375 pistol and decided that there's no practical difference between the two. Since the Norma brass is so cheap right now I'd just stick with that instead of using the Hornady as long as you can extract and eject it in your action. It works in my Savage since the pistol is a single shot. I wouldn't trust it to work in a repeater though since the extractor lets go of the case before it clears the chamber.
