Ruby found the other bear a couple hundred yards away shortly after daylight. It was a big black one, also measured 6'5" but was heavier than the others, they figured about 300 even, the heaviest bear so far this season. I'll post a photo when I can.

We are having lots of success bear hunting. This bear skinned out 5'11 but only weighed about 150 pounds, the skinniest bear we've seen, yet he had good size. This was Bob's second bear, he decided to hunt two bear and ended up with the big chocolate shown already and this blackie.

Here's Kurt's bear that ran off after getting shot that Ruby found the next morning. It squared 6'5.5" and had a darn nice head, it was the heaviest bear up to this point, probably close to 300, funny how some bear winter well and have fat in the spring and others like Bob's second bear had no fat at all and was very skinny, even though Bob's bear was almost 6 foot it weighed only about 150.

Brian and Anthony chased a big boar yesterday morning with the hounds. The bear never really ran, he would walk a short distance and sit down on his butt, if any dog got too close he would try to catch the dog, the dogs were showing this bear a little respect and keeping some distance from him. Brian got in close a few times and saw what was happening, he was trying to push the bear to get it to climb or move. He got a little too close once, the bear charged him, he ran and jumped off a steep bank, he had a cell phone in one hand and pistol in the other hand, he figured if the bear actually got a hold of him he would start shooting, as it turned out the bear didn't get him and he stayed with the chase, when the bear got closer to a road guide Anthony brought Marco in to the bay up, it's pretty tough to get a clear shot with hounds running around the bear and Marco missed, they had to chase the bear again, after a few more bay ups Marco finally got a good shot and tipped the bear over. This bear is the largest we've taken this year and a beautiful color, he squared 6'11.5", almost a 7 footer. Funny because the photo makes the bear look smaller than that, but this bear is a bigger bear than any of the others, you can see the size better in the video when he's sitting on his butt. Fortunately no dogs (or guides, lol) were hurt on this hunt.

The guys sacked up two more nice bear last week and are after another big boar bear with the hounds this morning. Brian has been on foot most of the morning, he called me from a high location before dropping into a huge remote drainage, said he thinks the dogs have the bear cornered in the bottom. Anthony has both hunters, he is going to try coming in from the bottom on foot if the dogs have caught the bear, I'm still anxiously waiting to hear what happened?  :dunno:
