Here I come
« on: April 29, 2018, 06:40:40 PM »
Haven’t hunted alone in over 15 years. Missed the opener first time in 15 years. It’s ok because I have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and im wearing sunglasses. I’m on a mission from god. Let me know if your alone. I don’t want to get bored.

Good luck! You should be hitting prime time now with all the reports I have heard.

Good time lots of birds weather was definitely better than it was during the opener.  Got to pick and choose which birds I wanted to hunt didn’t see another hunter entire time.   I could tell a few of them had been harassed already during the season but there were plenty stupid ones too.   The area looks really nice with a few extra weeks of spring on it. I saw a moose for the first time Colville has a microbrewery

I have to comment that those are separate birds. I didn’t realize how much the pics look the same. Best bird I let walk.  Called into a friend with a bow at 15 yards strutting a drumming. His little girl was holding the decoy in front of him but he couldn’t get a shot.  The two birds I shot were out of a nice flock with 5 or 6 toms.  Both times the big strutter evaded me. I could hear him drumming very close as he was approaching less then 20 yards away.  Both times one of his henchmen came straight at me trying to cut him off. Self defense I say. I was not about to get molested by a gobbler,  again.

All by yourself  :dunno: I remember the days camped at the fairgrounds when you guys came in went in multiple truck loads!! Looks like you still got it . And yes, that weather looks way better than most of the opening weekends we were over there. Where is the snow/rain  :chuckle:. Well done  :IBCOOL:

Yep, the old guys got too old.  Steve used his vacation for his 50th.  Everyone else just doesn’t respect the bird.  I think we are a dying breed.  Nobody wants to drop the cash for 20#s of Turkey meat.  I have a blast and will always make it over.  My daughter was supposed to come, but she bailed at the last minute to go to Hawaii with a friend.

If I had to chose only one critter to hunt.....the mountain turkey.
The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.
