Carrying sidearm while scouting/hunting/etc
ljsommer:
If you carry in the woods, where (on your person) do you carry? I haven't had a lot of experience with this, but I was wondering if a belt OWB carry position would get snagged on stuff, and at least with my setup the idea of putting in multi-mile trips with a heavy sidearm on my hip seems annoying.
I know some backpacks have handy little spots for sidearms which shifts the weight a bit. Post with your experiences!

cross draw

Look at a Diamond D chest holster. They are nice. Especially when carrying a bigger gun (revolver etc). Works great with a backpack on. I do carry on my hip often times. I prefer a crossdraw when packing on my hip (Easy to sit down with pistol on). The only holster style I hate when I'm in the thick woods, is thigh rigs they catch on everything.

This is my next purchase related to carrying.

I've got a man gear alaska chest rig. I love it.
