Maybe non-typical

This buck was injured last year, and the horn growth on opposite side of injury is weird

Nope, great gene’s, young 5x5 last year, then hit by car in Dec, possible broke leg, healed and he walks on it but big knot, side that is funky, broke off when hit. He is only 3yo, same buck 16 days ago. See injury on foot, I have supplemented him since injury

From looking at that foot in the last picture, this is a typical response.  Going to be unusual at least.

5X5 at two years old?  With genes like that, I'd let bucks like that get to eight years old before hunting them, and then chase 'em with stick and string.

Can't wait to see him in late-August to see if the supplemental feedings made a big difference in mass.  Thanks for posting!

She probably wants a deer with normal ears and normal rack.   :chuckle:

Really she probably does not want any more deer mounted. Critters take up all her wall space👍

It’s normal for the off side antler to get deformed when a deer has a leg injury.
There is a section on it in the book deer of North America

this guy has been around for years on my property, we call him gimpy, use to be a nice big 3 point but he showed up a few years ago with a busted leg.  The next year he gimped but got around great.  His horns have been non typical and messed up on the opposite side for a few years now.
