Coyote's last supper
« on: June 19, 2018, 02:26:16 PM »
Hunted yesterday morning in Tahuya for coyotes. First area was more overgrown than I thought it would be  and had trouble with the sunlight. Moving to our second site we discovered the remains of a goose, lots of feathers and coyote sign. We moved into our spot at a gated intersection, dirt road.  I called , using Rick's great hand calls. My buddy was using the gate as partial cover to watch a side road. Sure enough, some pup distress and the coyote pops out, 100 yds, partner using AR hits him. The coyote was focused on the call and never saw the shooter.  It was a good morning and my hunting buddy's first coyote. We figure it was the coyote that had just finished off the goose.

It's always good to find a spot where a coyote made a kill. They seem to lurk around for a while and become very territorial.

Made a call once 200 yards from a deer carcass. Two coyotes came in like a storm! Not to get a dying rabbit but to kick the tail of who was killing it..
