« on: July 08, 2018, 01:55:43 PM »
Am I reading the regs wrong, or is there no archery deer season in the pasayten Wilderness?

There’s no archery season there.

I have used my Longbow up there during the High Hunt. Got on some decent bucks but never connected. Muzzy range but not longbow range
The mountains are calling and I must go

You’d have to have a rifle or muzzy license and wear orange in order to do that legally. Not accusing you, just clarifying for the OP

I asked WDFW about this at a public meeting last year: The bio's answer was that 203 is excluded from early archery so that the High Buck Hunt is the first season of the year up there. With almost all the other GMUS having archery first, Pasayten is managed so that rifle hunters get first opportunity somewhere. I don't know if there are any other GMUs that are managed the same way, but if you are planning to archery hunt any of the High Buck Hunt GMUs it would be worth double checking.
