There’s a lot you need to know. Specifically access. Several threads on the forum explaining it all. Can’t access it until the hunt opens but you can scout from the top beforehand. Limits to who can be in there with you, who can help pack out a bull if you’re successful, etc.

Oh and steep. It’s really brutal country as is the norm for most places in the Blues, but the shed is worse.

If you go in from the bottom you are in Oregon for quite a ways, lots of spots to spot from, Tiger canyon in Oregon or along watershed trail on the north side.  Black Snake might be the best way up.
Lots of local and federal entanglements, pay attention.

On the bright side, good bulls to be had and mule deer to see that never get hunted.
Good luck

You mention 157, do you have a Blue creek tag or the shed?  Big difference

I’ve hunted every unit in the blues multiple times and I have to agree with Jack. Watershed is probably the most brutal country you can encounter over in those parts. Good luck! And as mentioned already, no access into unit until your hunt starts. Skyline road is a good place to scout. Bring a good spotting scope but don’t cross the boundary. Officer Garcia will be on you faster than than flies on ......

Skyline divides the watershed and the West wenaha. You can look into almost the entire shed from that road. Can even see walla walla on a clear night

A lot tougher hunt than most people think it is.  If you haven't been in there then you wont truly understand until you go in!  Not for the novice, fat, old, or lazy.   It is better now that you can bring a companion in with you and three to help you if you get one down.  Prepare to see bulls that you cant get to.  Prepare to see bulls that will take hours to get to and they are gone by the time you get there.  We have shot a few nice ones in there over the years but have crawled on our hands and knees with 60-80 pound packs to get the meat out!  I'm not trying to be negative!  If you are truly prepared and in excellent shape it can be a hunt of a lifetime here in Washington.  I know guys that have drawn it and spend a day in there and came out and completely given up and went home.  Weather is crucial.  Good luck!!!

DONT BE THIS IDIOT! :twocents:

I have glassed into this unit a few times, mostly from table rock off Kendall Skyline (NF64) and its steep and deep like people say.  There are some good bulls in there.  Does anyone know the ending to that story?  What a waste   >:(
