Need Some Suggestions for a Sound System
« on: July 10, 2018, 12:22:38 PM »
Okay before everyone starts jumping on this and being a wise guy...

Here is my position.  I am hosting a wedding in less than thirty days.  The venue doesn't lend itself to a DJ, nor does the crowd.  My daughter would still like to play some music for ambiance and a little dancing, just cocktail party stuff.  I don't want to buy a expensive sound system or some other tech heavy solution that requires someone to operate it.  It would be nice if it could support a microphone for my master of ceremonies, but that isn't a requirement.

So here is my question.  Does anyone know of a Bluetooth system or some kind of wireless system that will play a playlist from a laptop.  The venue is fairly large, the crowd is about two hundred people.  I have been thinking about things like those little puck style speakers on the tables, or maybe some discreetly placed speakers on stands or strategically placed around the rooms.  Minimal setup would be a godsend and someth9ing that is basically Dad proof.

I'd like to do it without breaking the bank, because believe me an open bar and dinner for a couple hundred will do that without any help.

This stuff just isn't my thing.  Any suggestions?

Hire a band and have them bring their own equipment.

Sorry but i am of no help.

Look at Sonos speaker systems.
They have great sound, and it would be hard to find a better Bluetooth or WIFI type setup.

Congratulations.

That's all I've got, sorry I can't be of any help with the sound system.

Are you sure you want this topic here?  I can move it to the VC for more views but that is an opt in board so maybe it is better here.  Let me know.

That is a great idea. And could be given to the young couple as a wedding gift after it's intended use  ;)

Call Crutchfield and tell them your situation. They are super helpful

The Sonos system or Bose Sound Touch system. Both allow you to link multiple speakers together and play the same playlist simultaneously. Neither are wireless, they need to be plugged into power. I have 2 Bose soundtouch speakers and while the app can be a little clunky at times, it does work well and the speakers sound great.

And we have a winner!  Sonos four room set from Amazon.  Good advice, I appreciate it.

Is it going to double as a wedding gift?  That was actually a great idea.
